After being postponed from the original date in May, the LWR drive was held at Mount Olive’s parking lot on July 11. Twenty Lutheran churches from southern Montana and northern Wyoming brought 621 boxes weighing 15,008 lbs. of quilts and kits. Mount Olive LWML and quilters donated 138 quilts, 35 personal care kits, and 71 school kits. Many thanks to Grace Lardy, Rachelle Sparks, Kyle Armstong, and Chris Johns for their help in weighing and labeling the 45 boxes from Mount Olive before the drive. And a big thank you to Jason and Lukas Johnson, Kyle Armstrong, Jonathan besel, Nicole Rodriguez, Jamie Robertson, and Chris Johns for their help in loading the 621 boxes into the semi; also, thank you to Lorli Mercer for her help with the paper work. Without all the help from these individuals, it would be impossible for me to do this job. ~ Donnaleen Ganskop, LWML, Southern Zone Coordinator~

Mount Olive LWML and quilters also donated 62 hygiene kits and 39 quilts to OGT, which were loaded on the OGT truck at the LWML Convention at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday. Previously this year, another 27 quilts and 13 baby blankets were went to Orphan Grain Train.

The LWML Ladies send a thank you to everyone who has made lap ropes. We still have more than enough yarn to make lap robes for the Shut-Ins and VA recipients. If you are still interested in making a lap robe(s), the yarn and drop-off box are outside in the fellowship hall. Thank you again for your help! – LWML Ladies –

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated HARVEST FESTIVAL with us!  It was a great night for us and we hope you had a good time.  We are feeling extra thankful for the generosity that everyone bestowed on our Preschool through the Quilt Raffle and the Chili Cook-Off.  We raised $500 for purchasing Preschool graduation caps and gowns.  Again, Thank You! Congratulations to our winners: Quilt Basket Raffle Winner: Mai Sticka and Chili Cook-Off Winner: Geoff Talafuse (Also a special thank you for the donation of the Chili Cook-Off winnings to our Preschool cause)!

Mount Olive Quilters completed and donated 179 quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Also a large number of quilts have been donated to Orphan Grain Train and recently one quilt wa given to David Henley. Mount Olive Quilters are very appreciative of the sheets, fabric, and supplies that Mount Olive members as well as other iindividuals have donated to them. The Mount Olive Quilters are in constant need of more supplies, especially gently used sheets (for backing the quilts). They could also use a few more ladies to help them. You don’t need to know how to sew – they need help with tying and ironing. They meet on Thursday mornings about 9am, and fellowship promptly at 10am. During the summer months they will meet every other week, check the church calendar in your box, and follow the dates posted in the Sunday bulletins.
